cooling question

i have been looking into threads and looking for ways to further cool my computer and decided to buy another fan. but i was wondering about this program that came with my motherboard called core center. i was wondering if it is a helpful program or would i be better off just uninstalling it. it just shows my temperatures and fan speeds. i have a msi 865 mobo.

I'll forget to take breakfast but not to load up my temp. monitors. It is always nice to have it running since it wont be eating up your system resources.

That software must also be showing you Voltages. That is where you can determine the purity of your PSU.

Anyhow, i own an ASUS K8V Se DLX.

Dont worry about it much..

secondly what are your system spec.. what kind of improvement do you want in cooling

i just wanted to see how cool i could get it to run. my nb temperature stays around 50 and my cpu temp goes to about 60 when i am playing games and stuff. i thought maybe if i buy better fans it would help since the ones i have right now are the generic ones that came with my case. i am running a P4 2.6 800 FSB, 512 PC3200 DDR, Antec truepower 430. not really anything special, haven't overclocked or anything. well my corecenter tells me my ram is running at 203 mhz.

No no no, you got it all wrong. Adding more fans will help but in most cases first figure out the major problem.

Even without any fans in a case, a P4 would only be runnig around 56 deg under full load.

60 C isnt that high but 50 C for Mobo means your room temp. are high.

Instead of adding fans... do the following steps.

Open one side of your casing full open, than run all your games and than identify temperatures.

If you get lower temperatures, upgrade to a few fans.

If not, than your room temperatures must be hovering around 30 C.

Even if not that, i bet you 3 PCI slot motherboard.

my cpu went up to about 55 and my NB went down to 47 after i took off the side. Yeah my apartment is pretty warm right now and humid.

See, thats an instant improvement.

So i guess you can actually upgrade to more fans.

If however, Dust aint a problem in your Block, i advise to keep the Casing open all day long.

Dont be fooled by people. I have been running my P-III for 4 years with cazsing open, so do run my P4 wih casing open for about 2 years.

I doubt that you will need to reapply the heatsink to get those temp. further down.

But 55C is very good under load...
