Cooling Question: Lian Li PC-7B Plus II

Greetings. I'm currently trying to optimize my cooling and airflow in my case.

System specs:
Opteron 170 overclocked to 2.4
Thermalright HR-01 heatsink with a Scythe S-Flex 1200 RPM
Asus A8N-SLI with TT copper heatpipe NB cooler
XFX 8600GTS OC with Zalman VF-900
WD SE16 250GB

all in the PC-7B Plus II-stock 120mm fans (rear exhaust, front intake)

Currently CPU idle temps are 37-38*C, load temps 46-50*C.
GPU-Idle 38*C load 45-48*C maybe a little higher.

I'm trying to keep it quiet but cool. I live in Phoenix, AZ, so it gets warm, but we usually have the A/C on.

Any suggestions on fans or better cooling? I removed the internal protection grill from the rear fan to try to get better flow. Didn't seem to change anything though.
 
theres really not much u can do with increase in ambient temps...

get a newer CPU cooler (Zalman 9700, Tuniq Tower... etc)
replace stock GPU cooler (Thermalright)
get 2 x 120x38mm high speed fans (around 3000rpm) and get a sunbeam rheobus to control their speeds when necessary)

reorganize cables in ur system and clean out the dust for the summer? vaccum surrounding area of the PC
 
I think I have a decent CPU cooler, and I've got a heatpipe Zalman VF-900 on the video card.

I could probably stand to do some cable management, but it's not horrible at the moment. I am interested in different fans, just not sure which ones move air and stay quiet.

after looking at your pic of your rig, first thing i have to say is: wire management. that would be the first thing i'll tackle. tuck them away somehow, use zip ties if you have to.

next would be moving your HDD to the 3.5" floppy area since you only have one HDD and remove the cage completely.

as for fans, i use low speed yate loons in my PC-7B. they are quiet and have good cfm output and they are cheap 🙂

if all that doesn't work, turn up the AC 😛, lol. if you do all that and still aren't satisfied with your temps, then your gonna have to move to watercooling.

Thanks! Yeah, normally I at least clear the air flow paths, but I was kind of lazy with wire management on this one. I did a little better job on my LAN box: LAN Machine

I'll have to think about moving the HDD, I kinda wanted it to be cooled, but maybe it'll be fine in the floppy cage. I guess I'll have to try it and see.

I'll have to look into some Loons. I've heard really good things about them.
