I'm in the process of trying to determine what it the best method to cool a p4 prescott 2.4a that I'm planning on buying but also keeping it budget friendly. I really don't have much money to work with so I'm trying to keep my overclocking to a moderate level as well as my costs.
According to what I have read here and there about this processor I'm planning on buying (link here) that some overclocking has been done to reach 3.4ghz speeds with stock hsf from the retail box. I'm wondering if anyone out there says no against this and thinks that it is better not go with the stock hsf and use an alternate such as this one by Zalman. I'm not planning on pushing the processor beyond that 3.4ghz mark and will primarily be playing fps games and not a whole heck of more.
Bottom line do you think the stock hsf that comes with the retail processor will be sufficient or should i seriously consider an outside cooling source even if it means another 40+ dollars?
Thanks.
