Cooling issue...

AMD 8 Core cpu on the way. I didn't realize how beefy the heatsink is. As oversight on my part, I bought a Zalman cooler.

Thing is, it says MAX TDP 95 watts. My cpu is 125, will this work, or did I waste my money.

Here is the amd heatsink.

So IF the zalman will work, will it cool better?

The zalman cooler won't be enough for your 125 watter especially if you're going to be running it intensively.

You have nothing to lose by trying the AMD cooler first. If it's satisfactory for you, use it and send the Zalman back. The Zalman will probably be fine, though, if the AMD cooler is too loud. Plenty of positive reviews using 8 core Bulldozers on Newegg.

Zalman coolers are crap, they are designed to look cool not lower temperature cool.

I would pick the stock AMD cooler tbh, its not bad considering.
