hello,

i have a 2.8E prescott not O'C and i have just installed a Zalman CNPS7000A Cu to hopefully keep things cool. I was just wondering if the tempretures that i am getting are normal. During idle i am getting 41C and load 51C, is that ok ?

Now just on a side not, what is the stock rpm for the stock HSF of the Prescott? Since the other day i saw it at 3300 then it jumped down to 2600 for some reason.

Thanks.

Temps are fine.

Many motherboards have dynamically controlled fan headers. Asus has calls Q-Fan, other board makers have their own and adjust voltage to the fan making it spin slower or faster depending on temperatures.

Given what others are complaining, I think you are doing mighty fine. Sadly there won't be much overclocking with that Prescott hog unless one uses watercooling. I gotta laugh at Intel, my Northwood 2.4C is the last one I'll have for a while.

"<FONT face=Verdana size=1>cooling issue with a prescott " I think that this is going to be a recurring thread ;).

Those temps are pretty normal from what I have been reading of other prescott owners.</FONT>

i don't know,
i have stock hsf with 2.8e and ASUS p4p800e-deluxe,
i ahve 37C idle and ~44C

i just bought the same hsf, zalman 7000-cu.
i hope it will perform better than stock intel hsf.

those seem about right for the prescott
I've never been much of a supporter of the zalman heatsinks or flow-like-things tho, they just aren't effective enough for extreme overclocking imo (and in this case the prescott makes the thing look unbelievably weak)

good luck

Is that socket or core temps?
My 2500+ on a 7000A-Cu runs at about 50/40 (core/socket) temps at 100% load (running SETI 24/7). The ambient case temp is about 30 degrees. Heh, my case is not very thermally efficent.
Those temps should not cause a major problem. Nothing to worry about.

Bwahahaha... Oh man, my P4C 3ghz is sitting at 58C idle right now, and likes to hit a load temp of 72C. Yup, your temps are VERY dangerous. :D

I  Abit temperatures. They're fun. My PWM is @ 654C. Bwahaha.
