Cooling in refregirator

E.g. i live in africa and i have no cool air, and my HDD gets really hot if i put it in refregirator where wont be any air circulation what are chances that its going to be ok?

welcome to sub ambient cooling.

However the fridge is not the best form of compressor you can buy. Most phase units use compressors off AC units. These are far better compressors, but you would need to inspect the compressor. Stressing it to cool something can lead to it burning out.

I can't find the article anymore, but there was one that "proved" that high temperatures do not adversely affect HDD life.
I currently have a Hitachi Deskstar that's been running at 40-60C consistently for about 2-3 years now and it's still alive. It happens to reside directly above a nice hot 70C Prescott in a mini-ITX case.
But I think I've read somewhere that there is a point when HDD start to "not like" the cold. Plus condensation = bad. You'd have to figure out a solution for that.

The condensation is the biggest problem. You will have water on every surface that is cold enough, and that water can kill your computer very fast. But I really don't understand why you would like to cool your hard drive, where the cpu, gpu and other stuff are more heat related than a simple HDD.

you just need high CFM fans. Even if the ambient temperature is 40-50C, it should be good enough if you have enough flow in and out of your case. The only issue you might have is your computer not lasting 12 years. It might "only" last 6 years, at which time you would have upgraded to a different computer anyways.

If you have a Wall unit A/C you can get ducting to route the cold air from the unit to your case. that does wonders. Stay away from condensation make sure the air is flowing through taking heat out and cooler air in.

For example, in my country this summer was one of the hottest ever, and we had a couple of days with temperatures of 42-44 C. So what I did was put everything on stock, and undervolt the cpu. So I had like 48 C in idle on an 4000+ brisbane. During those hot days, I never played a game, or stress the computer to much, I was only watching movies and browsing the internet. Gaming was sometimes done during the night, when temperature was lower. Thank god that the winter arrived, and now we had -11 C this morning. It's a wild weather indeed.

I know it's summer in the southern hemisphere. Who doesn't know that? I was just sharing my solutions for a cooler PC during these very hot days that Montek experiences right now. I don't know what you understood from my post, maybe I wasn't very clear. I wasn't saying that if it's cold in my country now, it should be cold in the entire world. I'm not three years old you know....

It'll be Christmas in a couple of days, worldwide. While most Americans are buried in snow...

In New Zealand, for instance, they'll be celebrating it with swims at the beach, cook-outs, and fireworks - sort of like our 4th of July!

If Montek is in Africa, he needs a solution today (his summer), not next winter (our summer) - that's all I was saying...

Yes, and I was giving him my own experiments with heat, that I've done this summer, even though now it's winter. I think that he can undervolt his cpu, during his summer, which is now, even though I'm not doing this right now, because it's winter. I don't think that my advice has expired because now it's not hot anymore where I live....

I live in a hot and humid environment too. I thought about getting this water cooling system and putting the radiator part in the refridge. LOL... i bet it would work wonders.

Hrm...

Come to think of it, there is no summer, winter, spring or fall on the equator! All that changes are the weather patterns, e.g. wet n' dry.

I'm *guessing* Montek lives near the equator...

If so, he needs a 24/7/365 solution!

All he's concerned about is the HD temp, the way I'm reading it!
