Cooling fan making noise and newegg praise. . .

episodic

Lifer
I was about to order another cooling fan for my processor, cause my current one started to grind a bit. Then I stopped and thought that when I ordered this fan, I also had bought my motherboard - which I utilized newegg's warranty service with.

So I called newegg and asked them what I'd need to do to get the fan replaced under the warranty I purchased.

The rep just dropped one in the mail no cost, not need for a return.

Excellent.

BTW when a procesor fan starts grinding, how long do you typically have?

pretty random with the fan death and stuff. i've had ones last months. but i replaced em before they siezed up, so i dunno how long they can really limp along. the bad thing is when you start up and the fan fails to spin..and u don't know...

^ what he said... you never know... but when it starts making ball-bearing noises... you best get on the horn for a new one ASAP... I wouldn't leave the thing running unattended overnight.
