Cooling Concerns

I threw together a computer out of some spare parts lying around and these are the specs:

Athlon II X2 245 - 65W TDP
4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 (2x 2GB)
Asus M3A78-EM (780G)
Onboard sound and graphics
Silverstone SG-02
500 Watt Seasonic S12-II PSU
1HDD and 1 Optical Drive

The only purpose for this system is to run Hyper-V 2008 R2 so I can fire up VM's remotely. My concern is whether there is simply too much heat in the place I want to put it.

The picture below shows where I want to put it. Above it are the FiOS Cable Box and Router, to the right is the Onkyo receiver and a PS3. The PS3 gets pretty hot (Its fan really gets loud) during use.

Would this be too risky with only 1x 80mm case fan running (In addition to the PSU and CPU fans)?

Seems like the computer should run relatively cool with the Athlon II X2 and IGP, though I guess even that might be too warm in a crapped space. Why don't you just throw it in there, run Prime95 (or something similar), and check temps (core temp, real temp, CPUID HWmonitor, etc)? That should tell you what temps should be like under a worse case scenario.

CPU-Z + GPU-Z + CoreTemp + HD Tune should allow you to read your CPU / graphics card / hard drive temperatures and get a general idea of voltage.

I'd expect it to be perfectly fine.

By components I meant the Receiver, Router, FiOS Box, and PS3

For a 65W processor, I really don't think so; heck, I've even seen as high as 95W processors in cramped low-profile PC's running on somewhat tiny heatsinks with no other exhaust fans whatsoever.

You should be ok, so long as there is sufficient airflow. I hope you keep the cabinet door open when the PC is in use though.

If you are still worried, then your best bet would be to get a small desk fan and point it in your PC's direction.
