I'm in the process of making myself a new rig. I need something that runs cool, for one thing I'm getting an AMD and the other, my room is about 80 degrees F most of the time. I really like those lian-li pc60's looks. I'm real tempted to buy it, but I don't know much about Power supplies and it doesn't come with one. What are some moderate priced PS that can support the setup I am wanting. I know the bare minimums, but what would be good to keep me up and safe. And you think those 3 fans in the pc60 would be adequate cooling?

proposed setup:

1.33 Thunderbird Athlon
Asus A7M266
Geforce 2 Ultra of some sort
and then all the other junk that prolly doesn't matter

That is an awesome price on the 365! I bought mine at a trade show last Sunday - paid $63, and thought I was robbing the guy blind! Fry's sells them locally for $119.00

I love my enermax! I have the Vantec 6254OD and it keeps my 1.2 at about 38C loaded.

What kind of decent case (with power supply) you can get for a budget of $100 - $120?

OLEMrBaghead,

The enermax power supplys tend to be the best on the market for home use. They also tend to be a little under-rated. Their whisper lines are also the quitest. Use them as a maximum price point.

In terms of HSF, there are lots of choices:

Swiftech MC462 - The best available cooler right now. $50+

There are a number of other options all ranging from $8 - $40. I wouldn't recommend using anything less than $20 (unless you get a really good deal :)). Obviously, this is a huge generalization, but one that should not lead you astray.

Here are some names to look into:

Global WinCAK38 (this is the one I have)
Alpha Pep66T
Vantec FCE-6254OD
Taisol CGK742092

In general, the best performing HSFs use the Delta 7000 RPM fans. As a result, if you buy a HSF that comes stock with the Delta fan, than it will probably perform well. Otherwise, you may want to buy a HSF and then replace the stock fan with the Delta.

Word of warning. The delta is very noisy and very sharp when it is spinning. If you do use the delta fan, make sure that it is covered with a good grill to protect yourself.

Hope this helps.

dominic01,

In my opinion, the best available case for that sort of money is some form of the Antec 1030. Stock antecs come with a 300W Antec PS (AMD approved I believe) and two case fans. There are stores in SF Bay area that sell the exact same case with a 300W Enermax PS (AMD approved) and 3 case fans. This is what I bought.

The Antec 1030 case is really nice. It is screwless entry with a huge work area within. So big in fact that there is no removable plate for the MB. It is inserted through the opening. The hard drive and floppy drive bays are removable with a lock switch. It has 4 5.25 bays.

It is perfect for cooling because of the great airflow.

I love it!

I am in the other side of the US (GA).

I saw couple of Antec in Bestbuy. Any online retailers you could suggest?
