I have a Maxtor 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache sitting in a Coolmax. After running it for more than 4-5 hours I touched the outside of the enclosure. OUCH! It?s hot. I check if I could add some internal cooling, but no room. I was thinking about adding a slim hd coolerto the outside, but don?t know how to power it. Can anyone offer some solutions to COOL THIS THING DOWN? No, I?m not putting it in a small refrigerator...

Thanks,
-JC

there should be space for fans behind the drive, although on my case for some reason the holes dont go to open air, so I dont know how much cooling it does

Did you install a low profile cooler on yours? How did you hook up the power? PICS if you can..

That's were the side moding comes to play. You cold just cut some slats, add some fan grills, plexi with grills, etc.

i cant really do anything because theres a plexiglass front right behind the fan holes, i suppose they would move the air around the case a bit.

i would get some case fans and mounth them behind the drive if you can, or add a fan to the side panel right next to your hard drive. or you could get one of those hard disc coolers, i think I have seen those.

I wonder what would happen if I put a refrigerator cooler next to my case with the cold air blowing in, im sure someone has done this before
