Yikes, sure sounds like a clusterfuck.

People do go fucking insane though when Kickstarters run into hiccups and whatnot. The ridiculous threats remind me of the Kickstarter I backed recently, the Pine64 $15 single board computer. They're running late in their deliveries (haven't gotten my March backer device yet) and some stupid fuck showed up at their frickin office threatening to kill them if he didn't get his board. OVER TWENTY TWO DOLLARS.

I honestly don't understand how it takes $2M to "engineer" a cooler. Sure it's got some different things to figure out ie, load for power supply, weight capacity, etc. but.... $2M? No. I suppose that's one reason why they are where they are...

LOL wow I missed that part. For something that is a kickstarter it should not even cost much to design it except for your own time. Maybe buying parts/tools for prototyping, but it should be MAYBE 1k or so, like you might need to buy an oscilloscope or other test gear if you don't have it etc. Though this cooler does not have much in terms of electronics in it. It can't be that complicated to engineer lol.

Personally if I was doing crowdfunding I'd practically be ready to manufacture and have the design all done. I'd do the kickstarter so I can have the money needed to buy the materials to make it. It seems a lot of kick starters start to collect funds way too early and then are scrambling to meet the goal.

I imagine they could do a charge back, but think with kickstarters you're out of luck in general, which seems odd to me as it makes it possible for someone to make a fake product just to get the initial money then run with it. Surprised it does not get abused more tbh. In this case I don't think they were abusing the system, they're just incompetent. :p
