CoolerMaster HHC-001 is going to ROCK..

CraigRT

I just ordered my HHC-001 and i am very excited.. the cooler looks to be awesome, and I hope it will help me overclock my XP1800 a little further than my stock CoolerMaster will. The reason I decided on this cooler was because of this review

Anyone looking for a sweet cooler, good quality, nice looking, good clip, good cooling, pretty good price.. look no further!! 😀

It looks awesome, cept for the noise... Thats the only reason i didnt buy one, i ended up going with the Thermalright AX-7. I couldnt stand the delta screamer anymore that came on my WBK-38, its same one that comes on the HHC-001... Good choice though...

Prepare for the sound of a 747 engine in your case... 🙂

I tried the HHC-001 and didn't much care for it. It doesn't work well at all with low CFM fans, which means you have to stick with a loud fan, if not a screamer. I personally find high pitched noise unbearable. Generally, the Thermalright AX-7 and Alpha PAL8045 are considered the best heatsinks to use with [less noisy] lower CFM fans. Still, the new Coolermaster will definitely be an improvement over what you have now, as far as cooling (and overclocking) is concerned.

For performance ratings on all the latest heatsinks using noisy, high CFM fans, here's another page to check out.

I read reviews where quiet fans were put on it and temp only rose a few degrees, and a 60to80mm adapter could be used if desperate.

Well, I suppose that depends on your definition of a "quiet fan." Overclocker.com measured the default HHC-001 6800rpm fan at 69dBA from 8" away, which is the equivalent of a 60mm Delta screamer. According to Coolermaster, the noise level on the HHC-001 from some undefined distance is 39dB. The only "quiet fan" tests I have seen with this heatsink have used 34-36dB fans; those aren't quiet in my book. A 21dB 80mm with a 80mm-60mm adapter will not provide adequate cooling with this heatsink for any sort of high-grade Athlon, or so was my experience. The same fan does provide adequate cooling for such Athlons with a few other heatsinks.

The fan it comes with is loud. I switched to a much quieter fan off a volcano II and 5, temps went up 3-7 degrees. Only problem I had with the heatpipe cooler was that heatpipe got in the way of the chipset fan on my shuttle ak-31 causing the heatsink to not sit fully on the cpu. Depending on your motherboard that could be a problem. However on mine the chipset fan was already going out so I replaced it with an old 486 fan, had to move it a bit off center so the heatpipe wouldn't hit it though. Otherwise it's a piece of cake to install. It does cool well. 🙂

Many good heatsinks out now that perform as well or better like the Volcano 7+(loud on medium and high speeds), Cak II(loud) and the AX-7(in my system now and cools better than the others using a quiet fan).

<< HSF looks nice, but it's not that great of a performer. It's more hype than anything in my opinion. >>

I didn't think figures and stats were hype.. it comes within 1 degree of the Swiftech MC462 which is something like 1 million dollars or so.. it also beats out the thermalright SK6... so i suggest think twice about believing this cooler is all hype... cause it certainly performs. Take a look at the conclusion of the review posted at the top of the thread.

Plus, i know aallllllll about the 38CFM Delta.. which is why I have a 30CFM version to go on it. 🙂 the 38CFM vers. is just too loud, but the 30 isn't too bad really. This cooler is going to DOMINATE.

More power to ya! 🙂

Let us know how it is when ya get it...

Alright, I'll post right back in this thread again. it should be here in no more than 2 - 3 more days.

i am excited 🙂

All the reviews I've seen have plaed this HSF in the top 10, up there with the Swiftech MCXC-462, the Alpha PAL8045, the ThermalRight SK-6 and AX-7. Apparently he "heat-pipe" is hype; Dan's Data ( www.dansdata.com ) found that the difference between the HCC-001 (with the heat-pipe) and the HCC-002 (the one without the heat-pipe) was a total of 0%. Still, he heartily recommended it, if you can take the noise. Since you have experience with the Delta fans, you know what you're in for. I agree that the 30cfm Delta is much more tolerable. It doesnt bother me at all.

dammit !! still not here !!!

:disgust:

Tomorrow it will be here and I shall let thou know. mmm i can't wait.....

I've got a heatpipe and it cools better than the SK6 does... by about 4 degrees on my system... And the fan on it isn't anywhere near as loud as the delta fans... I couldn't stand the Delta and had my Volcano 2 fan ready to go but this one isn't near as loud... To me it is in the tolerable range.... I hear my 4 80mm Sunon's more than i do the fan on this heatpipe. And my sunon's are 32db fans... You can say its all hype but it ain't hype this is one sweet ass cooler... When you can run a 1700+ at 1.7 gigs and 1.95v's and have a loaded temp of 107 degree's it must be doing a damn job... and oh yeah stock speed load temp is 94 🙂

holy crap! that's totally SWEET PreDatoRWuZHerE

I just put that mofo on, and before, my readout was 58C at full load running SETI after like an hour and up.
and now it's 41C !!! I belive the mobo reads a bit high, but that is STILL within excellent temp. range.. my CPU is at default voltage, and only at 1600 right now.. (Athlon XP 1533 stock.) This is a sweeeet cooler, one thing I am going to try, is putting my 30CFM delta fan on it, I still think the 36 CFM fan thats on it now is too loud.. and the 30CFM one I don't really find too bad.. I also heard it cools well even with under 30CFM, so this fan should still do a great job.

I love this cooler. easy to install clip, great value (comparatively) and great cooling ability.. one of the best coolers you can get! period!

I might even take some pics and put those up, here... 😀

Hmmm...not much of a performer eh? Seems to be doing pretty well on my oc'd 1800+. Also, after about 3 days I stopped hearing the fan anyway, so that isn't much of a problem. I'd reccomend it completely.

Easy solution to the sound problem is to attach a 92mm panaflow, I did this with my Alpha 8942, just line up an 80mm on top of the 92 and drill new holes, it will over hang the HS a little on all sides I fixed that by glueing thin pieces of plastic on the bottom of the fan where it overhangs. I now have a 53cfm fan with only 36db's attacking my ears.

Fan is tolerable to me. Load temps of 44 where before it was 51 with stock cooling. Totally great hsf and with as3, look out!
