hehe, it sucks, too.

80x80x45 H.S.
60x60x15 delta afb0612vhc F
it's supposedly one of their top-of-the-line hsf units, and it was reviewed very favorably at
http://www.digit-life.com/articles/coolermastercoolersshootoutdec2k1/
and
http://www.a7vtroubleshooting.com/articles/coolers/ResultsOverview.htm

but, in my system, at stock speed, the cpu reads 51C at idle and 59+C at load....reinstalled correctly with thermal paste

however, that's all beside the point... its not my concern because it runs stable. what i am peeved about is the NOISE. the delta fan spins at 5400rpm, pushing 27.7cfm at 38dB.

i first looked at the panaflows to complement my case fans, but their 60mm series are all weaker than the Delta... i don't want replace a donkey with a mule...

What should I do here. Are there any other 60mm fans out there that pushes as much air but are quieter? Or should I replace the whole HSF unit?

Every HSF selling site should have on the top of their order forms "DELTAS ARE LOUD!". That way we wouldn't have so many people complaining about the noise levels of quality HSFs.

Deltas are LOUD but they also blow a bunch of air. So yeah, changing the fan would make your temps worse.

Did you have the computer running under a previous HSF? If so, what was the temp of your old setup?

If not, how many fans do you have sucking/blowing into the case?

I love my CoolerMaster HHC-001.. couldn't have got a better cooler.. works pro!

the great thing about CoolerMasters is that they are budget coolers, they are inexpensive, and they work decent. AMDs bundle their retail CPU's with CoolerMasters and they do the job! I think since your mobo is an Asus and they suck and never read the temps right, that it's just plain wrong, and your CPU is not that hot. but I could be wrong.

I 2nd the HHC-001. My system runs at 35c, at most 39c. 🙂 You're a cooling newb. 🙂 J/k.

Oh man, you have a 60mm fan? I thought the closes Delta will do 21cfm at 36cfm. The next level will do 37.6 CFM @ 46.5 dBA. It sounds like you're running a Deltaslim. It doesn't matter if you have a great heatsink. If you're only pushing 27cfm, you gotta expect those kind of temperatures.

Good thing I have a 60mm-->92mm fan adaptor on there and running a panaflow at 56.8 CFM @ 35 dBA. It runs 34c with 37 at full load. My stock fan that came with the coolermaster did 38cfm at 45dba. Haha! Don't complain! That one ran at 36c and 40c.

Rig Below. The temps I gave you were at stock speeds.
