I have a stacker and I love it.
Wonderful case, all the possibilities!

The thermaltake Armor is also a very nice case, I just like the side window in the stacker better, and also the option to run a dual PSU setup or an internal water cooling solution!

Is the CM Stacker II called CM Stacker 830 (RC-830)? If so, then I definitely prefer the CM Stacker I have.

I have finally put it together. I have 9 fans working together and you can barely hear the thing. There is sooo much room in the case.

I suppose the great thing about it is that I won't need a new case for at least another 5 years. So, in the long run, the CM Stacker does save you money.

How quiet is the Stacker, compared to others like the Sonata and the P180 (because every case must be compared to the P180. Always.) It looks to me like it wouldn't be that quiet, since the whole front is mesh as well as the side panel which is just a big filter. I can see that it would be an extremely cool case, especially the new 810 model, but it seems that the case does not have much if anything for sound dampening.

I have the following fans installed already,

The psu fan, CM cross flow fan, 3 internal large fans that come with the case, vapochill cpu fan, 2 additional fans that I added. Total fans = 8. I can barely hear the thing. It's in our bedroom, next to my bed and on 24/7. Trust me, if it sounded loud, the wife would have let me know about it.

You can have 2 PS units installed in the CM Stacker. I have one, and CoolerMaster state that instead of another psu, you can install a further 2 80mm x 80mm fans.

Do you attach the 2 fans to the steel back plate that would have been removed if you had installed another psu?

I want to add another 2 fans as I can't see why it would benefit me in having another psu?

I love the stacker. I have one 120mm front in my hard drive cooling module, and one 120mm in rear. Then I have a CM crossflow blowing across the whole motherboard. Then i have an 80mm exhaust blowhole on top.

my cpu averages 26C
my PSIMC averages 30C
my chipset averages 34C
my 7800gtz idles 42C

not the quietest case by any means. has a lot of open walls, with just screens. This lets all sound out.

Just got my new stacker 810! Temps immediately dropped 6C idle and 7-9C load, down to 30C idle and 40C load! I have all stock the fans running at full blast with my cpu fan and gpu fan running according to temps, and I can't hear a thing. Now for the bad news: the drive rail system is stupid, the rails don't really fit the drives so you end up just sticking them on without any screws and sliding them in. This would be fine, except they still can slide around a bit when installed, so you end up having to screw them down anyways :-/ . The pci bracket is what really annoys me. For some odd reason it's halfway outside the case, and I can't actually screw in my pci cards. I'm still looking for a solution to this problem. Overall I like it, it looks great and I can't wait to really tidy up the cables and make it look good, but the installation has just been a huge pain, nothing like my friends' lian-li cases.

You should use thumb screws. Didn't you get some with the package?

It doesnt come with all nine fans. Comes with 4 I think it is (4 or 5 I forget which) You have to buy the extras if you want them. And if I read the developement of it they changed the name from Stacker II to the CM 830. I could be wrong about that but that was how I interpreted its developement. Its been delayed several times in 2005 and redesigned at least once. Slated for a January release now.

try using a mobo standoff in there 😉 i love my 810... but it's meant to be a server case if you didn't know. i cut mine a little bit to accept the crossflow fan. i've never had a case with such good air cooling as my stacker.

I just saw this case today. I was previously decided on an Antec P180, but after seeing this one I may change my mind. I like that there is no door on the front. Now I just don't know which one to go with.

810-Server case BUT it has 2 120mm in the back. no hole for crossflow, and no removeable mobo tray <<this is the one i have

STC-T101- dual psu, single 120mm on the back+dual 80mm, removeable mobo tray. <<this is the one most enthusiast buy.

Can someone explain the Stacker to me? is it's claim to fame all the external 5 1/4" drives it can hold? How is this related to the cooling it has? I don't care about 9 drive bays. I only have two optical drives. I do care about internal 3.5" since I like to run multiple HD's.

Couldn't they make a case that has the same cooling abilities but not have all those drive bays.

Also, the Stacker seems to cool well because it has so many fans. Does this mean it's very loud?

Hi... there seems to be 2 versions of the Stacker 810....1 with 2 rear fans, the other with only 1...... I have a younger cousin buying this case, but i'm not sure which to advise him, I would prefer 2 rear exuast fans with power supply mounted at the bottom of the case (P180 style). Though is it still possible to use a power supply utilising a 120mm fan....is there room underneath for the fan to breath??, or should he not worry and mount the PS above as standard.....anybodys thoughts would b appreciated. 🙂
