this is "a high end" website, so should be okay to vent to crictics

* test done inside a case?
* Prime95 does not give maximum load temps
* AS5 needs 2-3 days to settle

when you look at the dBA results, it's clear the ambient noise was close to 44dBA, as I'm positive the Scythe Mine produces noticeably lower values than the stock AMD cooling

since they are basing their conclusion on price, I wonder why the Freezer 64 Pro didn't get a better comment?

I wonder why my temps didn't drop noticeably after I first started using AS5...

I couldn't find it in the review, but I assume the "AMD Stock Cooler" they used was the newer heatpipe version. According to their tests, the stock cooler performed incredibly well and actually bested most of the pricey coolers! It was quieter than all the after market coolers and in an overclocked condition it only lagged 5C behind the Star Ice...

I was considering an AC Freezer Pro 64, but after seeing this review, maybe I just need to get one of these AMD Heatpipe coolers!

Quieter? Maybe quieter than some, but the fan the stock HSF uses is not particularly quiet (RPM goes up to ~3K, so I hear).

Well, you could read the review yourself and see their comparison of noise....

They tested some of the coolers at min fan settings and those were the only ones that were more quiet than the AMD stock cooler...but they were all within 1 dbA of the stock cooler anyway.
