Cooler Master Wavemaster

My room is painted blue, and the blue Wavemaster has got to be one of the prettiest cases I've ever seen. The paint job is automotive-quality...what a beauty.

I'm either getting the Wavemaster or the P180. The Wavemaster has 3x80mm fans, and the P180 has 2x120mm fans. But the Wavemaster looks nicer, and is all-aluminum.

Which one should I go with?

P-180... I don't like the newer CM stuff. The Stacker maybe, but still. I miss the CoolerMaster 101. 🙂 Now that was a case. (In it's time).
Tas.

I love my P180 ..much quieter setup(than Antec SX830 with panafloL1A 80mmx2)...I am using 120mm Coolermaster fans except behind HDD cage..I use an Antec tricool 120mm at medium speed

only drawback is psu position if your cable are bit short..ie 4pin 12v plug in my case

The Wavemaster is awesome case too...can not go wrong with either one

I prefer my wavemaster. Less plastic, more awe-inspiring beauty 😀

Does it have the sectioned off area for the PSU as well?
Tas.

Nope, but it does make cable management + PSU selection a helluva lot easier. 😉

Eh, I think I'll flip a coin on it. The only real turn-off for the P180 is the PSU placement. As much as it helps cooling (supposedly), it makes it a real pain for cable management and the like. Similarly, the one turn-off of the Wavemaster is 80mm fans. Almost archaic nowadays.

If you choose your components carefully, you can make the wavemaster just as effective as the P180. Even I was wary of the 80mm fans at first, but the front two are controlled by my Neopower psu, and the rear is undervolted to 5v using a zalman fanmate 1 (which fits perfectly underneath the fan). All three are inaudible, and with Q-fan enabled on the Panaflo L1A fan I have on top of my XP-90, temps never go over 50C, and all the fans are dead silent. Don't let the fans scare you!

That thing is ugly, and I still don't know how maxpc got their hands on one so early, they had it reviewed at least a month before it even appeared on CM's website!

Hm...I was thinking of hooking them all up to an Aerogate or something, but I realized something else now as well. The Wavemaster is OLD!! There's reviews going back as far as Feb/03. The P180 has the advantage of being new...so it probably has something better...such as dampening pads and 120mm fans.

If only they made the P180 in black or blue 🙁

Consider the Lian Li V1100?

IMO, The WaveMaster is a rather old case, but it's THE BEST LOOKING case in the past few years until Today.
The build quality is 9/10 (some edges too sharp),
The construction is 10/10 (it's very very solid, and well sealed for quietness)
The aluminum used on the case is 11/10 (it's at least 300% better than the materials on a TT case)
However, it's a little too small in my taste, things did get a little crowded in there, and yes I had the case.
Although I like this case so darn much I replaced it with a CM stacker because it's cooling performance was only so-so!!
For a Venice 3000+, ATI R9200, it works great, but not the case with a FX-55 + x800xt.

Hey I have a quick question: I'm looking to add some cold cathodes to my wavemaster; has anyone here done that? Where can I fit them? I want to use cooler master's own dual white ccfl kit, but it seems to be a very tight fit in that case.

take a look at the cavalier without the analog panel in front... best case out there in my opinion

buy a window panel for your wavemaster if you havent already... then i would get some xoxide cathodes and mount them with the included velcro on the left and right of the window... just dont make them visible...

go uv!

I used the cooler master dual ccfl kit in my WaveMaster with windows.
Perfect fit.

Really? Where exactly did you put the tubes? Do you have pics?

One objection to the P180 is its bottom placement of the PSU and the effect that has on cable management. I am looking at an Ultra X-Connect PSU with modular cables. Would that PSU solve the P180's cabling problems?

Like the originator of this thread, I'm trying to decide between the Wavemaster and the P180.
