Cooler Master RC690

Just put an order in for one of these on Newegg. Originally $79, on sale for $59 with a $20 MIR. This is going to replace my aging Antec Titan 550. Who had this case, any experiences? it has solid reviews on Newegg so I thought, what the heck.

I'd question the build quality but at that price you really can't beat the layout and design. 3x120mm fans are included too.

I just picked it up a few weeks ago. I'm thoroughly impressed with it! I've got 6 120mm fans in there to keep everything very chilly. Looks great. The interior is very nice and big, can fit G80 SLI. I love the supplied wire tie downs next to the mobo. I love this case!!

Just received notice from CM that my rebate is being processed. Along with a $5 Price Grabber rebate this was an incredible deal for $34.99 ARs. The build quality is excellent. If you need fancy lights and a humongous 200mm top fan go for the Antec 900 which happens to be on sale now at the Egg.

Why would anyone give up such a nice, quiet, sturdy, roomy box as the Titan which has rubber drive grommets for a tinny, noisy, maxi-midTower that lacks them? Ooops, I fogot, the 690 is completely different from the Centurion boxes and it does have HDD grommets, funny that Antec never mentions them - they still aren't all that common.

Don't forget the review

PriceGrabber got $5 extra rebate if you write a review about the case.

The Titan is a great case. I have an original which is a several years old. The PSU has gone out and needs replaced. Also I have lugged the case around (my test/demo server for work) and it's taken a beating over the years. It's not going away, it will be delegated to file server duty at home. Most people don't even know about the Titan because Antec and most retailers don't market it as a PC case.

Fit watercooling internally it 😛

Actually I'm not even sure if I've seen that case before lol so I don't know whether the Titan could hold internal watercooling or not. Got a link to it? Googling "titan" gives a gazillion results lol.

Go to the Antec web site - the latest version is the 650. They list it under server cases, but it's really a heavy-duty all-purpose box. Just a nice roomy ATX tower. If you search under Antec Titan 550 review on Google, you'll find some.

I edited my previous message - the 690 does have rubber HDD grommets.

Yeah Titan is a GREAT case. I wish Antec would sell them without the PSU for a little less $$$. The Titan's little brother, the Atlas is also a great case.

Here are some shots of my Titan.

Are you using any of the supplied fans? If so, are they noisy? If not, what fans are you using?

Whassamatter Tull? Your 690 not arrived yet? Rub, rub - just rubbin' it in... 😉

PS: AFAIK, all the fans CM supplies with their cases and hdd cages are their low and slow 25CFM or so fans (yup, 1200 RPM, 21?dB even the LED one - see one of my HDD cage reviews over on TechIMO - same fan). How the heck could they be noisy? But you'll need stronger ones if you want to move some air. I suppose they figure quantity is better than quality... I got lots o' rubber pins if you need 'em. .bh.

Received my case yesterday and did the entire swap from the Titan in about an hour. The RC690 is silent in combination with my SeaSonic 430 watt PSU. The assembly went very smooth.

One small problem is the 120MM side fan which comes default as an exhaust fan. When the fan is in the default position the side panel rattles like a Chevy Camaro. If you swap it around to make it an intake fan it becomes silent and also drop the case temps a little bit.

Overall I am very pleased with the case. There is plenty of room and the on board cable management is very nice. There is also room to run both motherboard power cables behind the motherboard so they are hidden and out of the way. In/Out ports are included for water cooling if that's your thing. Great case and a great price.

On sale at ZipZoomFly for $39.99 after rebate with free shipping. Also, PriceGrabber Rebate makes it $34.99 after rebates. Tempting me.....damnit!

Edit: Damnit, I didn't resist! 😀

Well actually I have a P180b which about the same thing.

I would say the P180b is slightly quieter but I don't have near as many hard drives in it.

Here's a brief take from cluboverclocker.com about the 690 case. Sounds nice! Wish I had the $ to get it 🙁

This is one nice mid-tower. While the case has a ton going for it, it could be a little better. There is no removable motherboard tray and the case is made of heavy steel. Those are very small complaints when you look at the case as a whole. A big plus for this case is it will fit 2 8800GTX's in SLI. I have an 8800GTS installed and you can see all of the extra room available. This case is also designed for nice airflow while keeping the noise down. The HDD trays have rubber grommets to eliminate noise causing vibration and the power supply opening is lined with a rubber gasket to do the same. The large 120mm fans will move more air at less RPMs than a 80mm fan. This will also cut your noise level down. Even the large rubber feet will help keep the noise level down. Overall this is a very nice case loaded with features that you'd find on much more expensive cases. Club Overclocker Recommended!

Hey Tull,

The 690 is only 19" tall. Aren't the 520's mobo cables at least 19" long (according to the SPCR review they are - they list the lengths of all the cables), so they could reach all the way to the top of the case.

A minor update. I disabled the power LED... it's just too bright. The LED front fan lets you know the system is on...
