It should be but test it with a couple runs of 3DMark just in case.

Most people have been saying that the autodetect detects speeds that are usually way too high. Do yourself a favor and start off slow. It may take a little while to find the right speeds, but at least your a whole lot less likely to damage your card.

Optimal settings sets my 6600gt @ 585/1170 and I get artifacts in intense games. My highest setting with 0 artifacts is 560/1170

How are you getting 560/585MHz core speed with a 6600GT?

Ahh... I only own a 6800nu, and a 6800GT. I assumed the core speeds would be the same, or lower.

Yeah the 6600gt's are like 4 cyl cars, they run high rev's but can't hang with you big boys with all the cubic inches(pipelines) in the 6800's:D

well then you have to add in gear ratios, parasitic power loss, engine configuration and position, weight distribution, drag coefficent, etc...

Find it yourself. Anything that says "auto" anything is dangerous! I don't even let my rigs auto detect ram timings. Besides, if you let software decide and never try it for yourself, not only are you risking breaking something but you're also not sure that you have it tweaked to the fullest.
