Nice little utility... from Dell ......Here

"Release Title: System Utilities: Dell Portables POST Bitmap Update Program, Utility, English

This program allows you to replace the image that is displayed during the Power-On Self Test (POST) of your Dell Portable computer."

Basically, lets you replace the ugly Dell logo with any 640X480, 16 colour, BMP file.

This works with a LOT more models than mentioned on the site. Download the file to get a complete list of all models it works on. I am sure it does with the 8500/8600.

Btw, here's what i changed mine to 😀 Ibm.jpg

Whoa niffty anyone know if this program will work on their desktops or similar program for the desktops?

Wish I could find something like this for either my gateway or thinkpad. Bleh I rarely restart my laptops anyway.

The description says you require a floppy for using this utility, but you can use this utility if you have a USB Drive or even if you have a CD RW...

All you need is a bootable media to dos.

Pm me if you need more details...
