renting house, water heater sat weeks without use while still on, overflow water gets into burn chamber and floods out unit. i completely removed the whole thing, layed it on it side while i poured a new cement pad for it to sit on so it wasnt sitting in water anymore.
this morning i placed the unit on the still wet concrete (its dry enough to hold the weight!) and re-soldered the copper pipes. hot side pipe didnt take the bait (got it too hot and burned away the flux), so i had to go to the hardware store again (as always). $2 more in couplings and this time i globbed a ton of flux in there. open the water valve, fired up the burner WHOOSH we got hot water.
i havent taken a shower in 5 days... oh god this is gonna be sweet
