Cool running,pentium processor

Were going to need to buy or make a bunch of computers for a dental clinic that were starting and the company that were working for is really pushing intel. I'm not too familar with intel processors as i did most of my reading on amd when i built my own computer.

So i've heard there is a processor for desktops that isn't as fast as the top end ones but that runs really cool. Any1 know?

 
Low frequency Pentium-4's and Celeron's run cool. You could probably get a very quiet HSF running decently on a P4 2.0, or passive/duuct cooling it.
 
You can always get the Celeron M 1.5 GHZ and get a socket adaptor or one of the two 479 socket mobos out there. Celeron Ms run quite cool, although not as coolas pentium Ms.

Eh, Pentium-M's and Celeron-M's have the same transistor count.

Celeron-M's would make a very nice office machine. But the use of adapter's would make the machine more complicated to service and maintenence if someone who isn't you is servicing the machine.
 
Id probably look into Dell, they could cater to your quiet needs, provide decent pc's and perhaps even provide a bulk buy discount if you buy enough machines.

Either that or look at the suggestions below. You could push for AMD but if thats not possible, Im sure we can help you get what you want.
 
6xx will be alittle cooler than the 5xx. or a a northwood. but anything prescott based will be able to double as a space heater.

Speaking about heat dissipation I couldn?t help carrying out a practical experiment. We measured the real temperatures of the four CPUs: Pentium 4 CPU on Prescott core, Pentium 4 CPU on Northwood core, Celeron CPU on Northwood core and Celeron D CPU on Prescott core all working at 2.8GHz. For our tests we used one and the same cooler from the boxed Pentium 4 (Prescott) 2.8E GHz shipment. The values were delivered by the on-die sensor. We measured the minimal CPU temperature in idle state and maximum CPU temperature when the processor got overheated by special utilities:


Celeron D (Prescott) 2.8: 45/62 (Idle/Burn)
Celeron (Northwood) 2.8C: 32/52
Pentium 4 (Prescott) 2.8E: 47/66
Pentium 4 (Northwood) 2.8C: 34/55

Celeron D is almost same power/heat as regular P4 Prescott.

Yea i'm defiantly an AMD fan. The consulting supply company or whatever u call em said that they recommendend intel b/c the equipment the clinic is going to be using is made to run on intel. Probably a bunch of rubish eh?

I would definatly rather go AMD, guess i gotta wait and see what happends.
I would love to build all 8 of the comptuer and buy a server from ibm and just hire someone for the networking. What do you guys think?

Also i miss wrote the first post, we dont' work for them. They work for me, lol.

That isn't BS.

Alot of the AMD motherboards back in the Athlon/Athlon XP Era ran like sh!t on sound recording, dropping more data than P3 CPU's of half the speed.

You NEVER know what might happen, best to stick to the devil you know than the devil you don't. 😉

If you REALLY want quiet, the sub 2.8GHz Pentium4's fit the bill perfectly.
 
The computers would be used for dental management software, digital x-ray cameras, education videos, etc. database and front desk work.
