I recently watched Pi and Memento, and I really like this type of movie!!! They make you think about human nature, and how hte mind works....or something like that ;) Also, A Beautiful Mind was along the same lines, and I liked it also.

Does anyone have any suggestions for movies similar to these?

Thanks!

I watched Vanilla Sky last night, which I would recommend in the same way. It's Memento, though.

Red Dragon was better than Manhunter, IMO. Of course I haven't seen the director's cut of that.

Mulholland Drive

Eraserhead

Lost Highway

ANYTHING BY DAVID LYNCH, YOU WILL GO NUTS THINKING ABOUT IT!

Also, how is Requiem for a Dream a psychological movie? It doesn't require much think, its just a well put together movie about drugs, its pretty straight forward, and was meant to be.

I liked The Usual Suspects, and I also like Minority Report...not sure if that qualifies under the genre you're looking for.

Lord of the Flies. If you can't think about anything psycological to talk about after that movie, then your so called "psycological" movies have done nothing to teach you psycology.

On a quiet evening w/no disturbances

1984, Richard Burton & John Hurd

A very unsettling interaction between these two fine actors. Grim but good.........:sun:

Also one of the better literary adaptations made. Not as creepy as the book, but damned close!

Pink Floyd's The Wall isn't too bad in terms of a dark movie that messes with you, either.

interesting quote. clarke is the one of few sci-fi authors that doesnt use the old pulp western/detective formula to write his stories and novels.

Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Stunt Man (very very good cult classic), Abres las Ojos (sp?)/Vanilla Sky, and of course the Matrix too. ;) Seventh Seal?

In the vein of reality/appearance/knowledge, if you can find the episode called "Field Trip" from the X-Files, it's a nice premise for the same general principal..
