Exactly what happened to McDonnel-Douglas when Lockheed won the F-22 competition.I think the gov't was hesitant to give Boeing the contract, because doing so would leave Lockheed without much business in a down economy. It would suck for everyone to have both commercial and military aviation industries controlled by one company
