Here's a mod for you modders.
A HDD with a window.

The cool Mod is on right now. So what of it?

Looks neat, but how would you see it when it's buried deep within the computer?

I'll grant him that it looks awesome, but I would never, EVER even think about doing something like that to a modern hard drive and expect it to last.
The only worse HDD mod I've seen is some dipsh*t who replaced the tops of two 75GXP's with plexiglass and set them up in RAID 0 so he could see them seek in tandem.

That's not a very good idea unless you want to lose data as quickly as possible :)

Ouch.

That's about the worst possible combination, can you say three strikes against you?

I'm not touching my 1200JB, it's precious to me.

I have this same drive. I think it looks cool. would go nicely in my plexi case. Your right, it is pretty worthless, but for the cost of a $9 drive I got from Newegg, ask me if I care :) It is worth it just for the "cool" factor.

Bwhahaha! And you thought I was joking.....

One hard drive + plexi + 2 hours work = hard drive w/window

Testing to ensue in moments.

It would be cool to mount that vertically on the front of case with backlighting. Cool, but useless.

Only twice huh? Must be a slow day. :)

BTW, anyone know of any way to make an HP case look a little less squat and ugly?

I've got some ugly HP cases too. Best way to make it look nice is to tear it down, get some spray paint, and buy a new case :)
