I went digging through my collection and found two potential candidates. These have been around for a couple of years so I'd rather use them up then go buy something.

Which one does everyone think would work better or is it a toss up?

Give me Myers all day long. It tastes like no other rum I've found.

My rules for rum.
Look for dark navy rum. And avoid any spiced rum unless you know that you like it. Spiced rum is just too sweet 90% of the time, and light rums don't really taste of much.
Dark navy rum is not common in the US. I would say 95% of the rum sold is either white or spiced. Would need to go to a specialty store for it. Even the biggest specialty store in Chicago has only a few results.

50 - 50 mix of the White Rum & Myers. Myers has a bit of that Jamaican funk to it so I wouldn't go full funk for the family.

My thought .....

Alcohol evaporates rather rapidly even in standing fluids. Moving the fluid will probably accelerate that. You might only have rum flavoring after a while.

This thing was a HUGE hit at Thanksgiving. Everyone loved it and commented on how neat it is. I ended up using @Dr. Detroit s recipe and it was a hit. I did leave the rum out because we had several younger family members who wanted to use it. Most of the adults just added rum to their glass after so it worked out.

I was just going to either donate back to Goodwill or just tossing it but I might end up keeping it.

They'd have liked it more with rum...
HA! What's your phone number and address so I can send my niece and nephews angry parents your way! I'm sure my excuse of "BoomerD said it would be more fun!" would have gone over real well. :D
