Solitaires are unreliable POS lights that have enough output to find dropped keys. After five minut or so the output is like a cigar butt.

If you want tiny, bright and well made check out peak LED solutions. Mags are endangered species.

That explains why you were advocating a regulator over a simple resistor in such an application.

I'm reasonably sure someone on CPF put a Lux and some smart circuitry into a Solitaire well enough to sell them as mods, but it was quite pricey and was, well, a Solitaire.
