Cool Edit Pro question?

I am recording streaming radio audio from the web. When i record in cool edit pro it uses wav format and then I have to export to mp3. Is there a way for it to save directly to MP3 format? If not what program should I use?
 
well, there's a plugin for CoolEdit so it can Open/Save as MP3... I dunno where to get it though 🙁
but i think it's better ifyou save it as WAV and then encode it with any MP3 encoder (preferably LAME based encoder such as RazorLAME)
