The MAIN reason many american vehicles get 'torn up' so soon is becuase !) we drive like maniacs 2) American vehicles tend to have alot of torque as shown in that video clip.

And the ones with the imports don't drive like maniacs?

*groan* The intent of the title was not "Come check out this wheelie!" it was "Imports suck because they can't do this." It started as an import vs. domestic. Notfred definitely expected it to degenerate into one with his thread title. Flame bait and I bit the hook baby. Booyah!

less torque = less chance of damaging a drivetrain component. Have you ever seen a smallblock motor twist a driveshaft in a full 180? I have. I don't see many imports pulling that one off, unless youre talking about a Supra / Skyline / etc...

I'm talking about a Supra / Skyline ;)

But isn't it then bad engineering if the motor doesn't last as long?

No, he got flamed because he made a comment on import cars.

Plus, you don't see import cars because import cars usually don't have as much torque and are designed with a different frame of mind, hence it would take more effort to get an import car to be able to do a wheelie. Don't doubt the fact that if someone really wanted to, they couldn't though. I just think notfred has been caught up in that whole "ricer" ideal that imports suck and he takes shots at em while ignoring his own car's shortfallings. His car is fast, but then I would still take the car I have over his. I drool at his times and numbers, but when I walk out in the morning, I'd rather see my car sitting there waiting for me to push my weak-ass 21-28mpg engine.

Arguably :) Unless you keep your damn foot out of it :) My 94 blazer has a 5.7L 350 smallblock with 160k on it and it has no major mechanical problems. However if I ripped it around more it wouldn't be running at all I dare say. I have no issues with imports, many are great cars, but American cars have thier place too!

It has nothing to do with hating American cars. It has to do with his hating imports and thinking that American cars can do something that cars made in other countries can't.

Heck, if ricers weren't any different than american hotrods, we wouldn't have any fun talking about it...

with toe ORIGINAL 2.8? I kinda doubt that. the 2.8 = pos. at almost exactly 80k miles they blow. Seriusly. The damn engine has a timer on it.

but I guess anythign is possable :)
