Usually folks have some sort of New Year's tradition/party/snacks/food whatever. Here's mine:

stuffedshrooms.jpg

They're waiting to go into the oven in about an hour or two (still letting dinner settle). This year instead of having a party or going all out, since all we ever do is my wife falls asleep and I stay up on the computer till midnight, I figured I'd just make a small batch of stuffed mushrooms and we'll have some chips and whatnot and call it a night.

Happy New Year's ATOT. Here's to another year of neffing and cooking with SunnyD.

no tradition. my guy and i celebrated New Year's Eve last night, and ate leftovers today. did make a cranberry salad earlier (made with Jell-O, cranberries, pecans, orange, lemon juice). if it's not ready in the next half hour (been in the fridge for 5 hours now), i'm diving into my Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough ice cream and slice of Pumpkin Cheesecake. :p

tomorrow, we're making our kick-ass blue cheese burgers. :)

edit: here's a pic of the Cranberry Salad:

Cheese cubes, wheat thins (low fat) and turkey slices. Nothing special.

Mailly Grand Cru and onion dip with kettle chips. /baller

I think this is what the lady and I have been doing almost every NYE for the last 7 years or so. The only difference is less champagne each year. First year it was 3 bottles and 1 bottle of wine for the two of us, this year looks to be just 1 bottle of bubbly. /old

And in that spirit, things that go awesome with champagne:
Onion dip
Potato chips
Popcorn
Mac and Cheese

I made chocolate pretzel buttons last night:

(not my pic, but close enough)

they were a pretty cool no-thought-required snack to have out and everyone seemed to enjoy them.

for the main meal, we had bacon-wrapped meatloaf, poutine, and chocolate-pistachio cake

How do you make them round?
round pretzels :p

melt a hershey kiss on top and then press an M&M on top to force the chocolate down into the pretzel nooks and crannies, then a couple minutes in the freezer to harden the chocolate back up.

Usually not a fan of mushrooms, but if they are done right, oh man...
Leros' pizza looks great!
Loki's round pretzels must be good, but I have never tried them before.

We threw a big family party today, all day. Last night, I was up late backing. Roasted a 12 pound sirloin (and sliced it on a meat slicer paper thin for beef on weck sandwiches.), did 8 pounds of ham, bakes 1 glazed apple pie, 3 pumpkin pies, and two apple-blackberry-raspberry-thimbleberry pies, along with a few loaves of sweet bread (banana, cranberry walnut.) Then, I sliced up a shitload of pepperoni & cheese, made a huge fruit platter, and a huge veggie platter.

Try them with rolos too!
