Do you not have a skillet between the tortilla and stove?

LOL, pre-heat nonstick skillet with heat on medium, put tortilla in skillet. It heats quickly so pay attention.

You can also fill soft tacos/burritos and put them on a cookie sheet in the oven. Pre-heat to 325-350 and bake for 8-10 minutes.

skillet? BAAH!

with a gas stove. Tortilla right on top of burner + pair of tongs to flip it 1/2 way thru = perfection.

probably won't work on an electric stove though.

Can you cook burgers, steaks, chicken right on the burner too?

Doesn't it smoke a lot?

Laugh all you want, but the Cheech and Chong "direct on element" method works fine as long as you don't have it turned up very high. A pan will diffuse the heat a bit more and prevent little specks of tortilla from getting stuck on the element, but it's really not necessary.

Hmmm... It occurs to me that this works fine with corn tortillas. Never tried it with flour ones.
