Cooking gurus: I want to get a grill!

Here's the thing, and some of you will think I'm full tilt insane.

My family takes food seriously. And we lost our grill in the hurricane. So, I'm feeling a bit saucy and I'd like to get a new grill pit so that I may grill steaks in my backyard, to the envy of my neighbors.

But instead of a regular wussy little weber - I want to have the closest grill possible to the old one. That happens to be a Bakers Pride F-72. That's got a grilling area of 69"x24" and weighs in at just under half a ton. Here's a picture! That's 250,000 BTU's of american pride!

It costs about $7,000, plus construction of the brick bbq pit to go around it.

Am I being over the top or would this totally be badass?

Stay away from Propane. Charcoal is the only way to go!

agreed.

Cheap weber or make your own. I could make one badass grill for 7k including the brick surround/ brick oven..........and a patio to sit it on....

Now, I *know* you said you were involved in a hurricane, but I still have a hard time believing that a half-ton grill took off, never to be seen again 😛

The ceiling collapsed on it in the garage and all the rainwater caused the surface to get rust-tastic.

I took it over to my welder and asked him if sandblasting was an option, but it was just too messed up.
