Cooking classes?

I'm interested in improving my cooking skills, can anyone recommend where to start my search for a cooking class in the area? In what sort of venues and locations are they usually held?

Try the technical colleges in your area.

My city has Durham Tech and they have a whole bunch of classes. You can even get Culinary Arts Certificate by completing five of the courses.

L'Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda provides short-term avocational/nonprofessional cooking classes for entertainment and education.

Are there any community colleges in the area?

My local community college offers cooking classes, but most of them are specialized, such as pasteries, a certain culture, or bbq. Pick one a community education catalog from your local community college to see what they have.

I was considering taking some classes at Stratford University. Its in the Tysons Corner area and the classes are on Saturdays. You can check it out here:

Also, check out your local YMCA or other community centers. The 92nd st YMCA in Manhattan has lots of cheap cooking/wine classes my gf has been pestering me to go to. (I'd actually love to go, I just have zero time for it.)
