Cookies being cleared at every Windows logon

This is getting very irritating. I'm losing my IE cookies every time I start Windows. Since I was on vacation for two weeks, I don't know what software was installed by other family members. I've checked registry keys in the .../Windows/CurrentControlSet/Run section and there's nothing abnormal. Can someone please help me here?

PS: No "use Mozilla" replies ... I already do. 😉
 
The only possibility I'm seeing is in the Advanced tab of Internet Options. In the last section, there a checkbox labeled "Empty Temporary Internet Files when browser is closed."
