Figures..
That's why japanese people have the longest life expectancy from eating raw fish. ;)

I've known this for years.. What exactly are you going to do about it?

Eating raw food will kill you more quickly than cooked food.

:p

Grilling meat on the barbecue was once thought to be very carcinogenic. Then they found out that when the drippings fell into the flame, they created a new anti-carcinogenic substance. Too much coffee is bad for your digestive system, but they found that the process of making espresso actually creates a substance that fights colon cancer.

Rhubarb is toxic if I eat too much of it, but in moderation is antiparisitic. Same with garlic, too much is toxic but in moderation is antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal. The toxicity of any food comes from overconsumption, no matter how healthy or unhealthy it is deemed.

Actually no. When the drippings fall in the flame, the vaporizes into smoke, and the smoke chars the meat. That is the carcinogenic substance. An counter anti-carcinogenic substance is a chemical found in mustard. It neutralizes the carcinogens in flame grilling.

Yes, but change is usually good because heat kills bacteria and other harmful "extras". Yes, I agree french fries are bad, but not because of their "poisonous chemicals", its a thing called "fat" that really gets to ya. You see, these delicious french fries tend to be overly consumed by those who aren't so health concious. People like those in my immediate family tend to stay away from them due to their low nutrition value and high junk food value (potatos in general can barely keep you alive, deep frying them certainly won't help). Obese poeople do have a reduced life expectancy due to a plethora of ailments that come with being overweight.

Cooked food is not bad, an unbalanced and unhealthy diet is.

if you eat BBQ once or twice a month, you have nothing to worry about. You stand a better chance of singing your eyebrows off like I did than dieing from eating grilled meats or fish

It's not fat that is bad for you, in fact most fats are very good for you. It's the fats fried at high temperatures and used for extended period of time that are bad for you. They breakdown into very carcinogenic substances. Also transfat is very bad for you because of it's unnatural form, which really screws up your good/bad cholesterol balance.

Even saturated fat is good for you in it's natural form, it aids in cell membrane rigidity.

And potatoes have one of the highest vitamin c counts amongst the vegetables - the problem is people eat a lot of baking/frying potatoes which are low in nutrition and high in starch, instead of the mineral rich red skin potatoes.
