President-elect Donald Trump's administration will break a campaign promise and not pursue further investigations of Hillary Clinton related to her private email server or the Clinton Foundation, Trump's former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday.

I'm not sure if Alec Baldwin is a mind reader or if Tump is taking notes. 😵
So much for "lock her up".

I have to wonder if they decided that this would be a real bad idea given that he'll most likely need to avoid prosecution when his term is up.

You fell for it didn't you

Sounds like a Trump admin will focus on policy rather than a battle of scorched earth against Dems.
I'm sure you're all so sorely disappointed.

It's hard to see how we should anticipate a Trump administration focusing on policy considering the cabinet picks he's made so far.

It's both funny and sad that the bar for Trump has sunk so low that 'not attempting to jail his political opponents like a banana republic dictator' is somehow a positive for him. The fact that he even claimed he would try to do it is a potentially impeachable offense.

have we all lost perspective of the fact that the DoJ is supposed to be independent and the President isn't supposed to play a role in directing who they target for investigation?

And congress has already said they're not done with her.

The way this will play, is that Trump had to give in to not split the nation. So, even though he said all his shit about her being in jail and she was a criminal, he has to back off to help heal the nation. I'm sure it has nothing to do with facts.

They said that when it looked overwhelmingly likely she would be elected. Given that the GOP controls the White House and both houses of Congress I expect they will want to turn their energies to enacting blackhearted policies, rather than wasting their time on stall tactics like yet more Congressional hearings for Clinton.

Who knows? I sincerely doubt he was ever serious about it to begin with, he probably just said it because it got him attention and it played well with his base, whose adulation he craves. I really doubt he put any more thought into it than that and I'm not even convinced he was/is aware of the traditional wall between the President and the DOJ.

Can't find the video, but it's been said since the election. Also, the Clinton Foundation isn't getting a free pass yet either. We shall see.

Here it is :

I sincerely doubt anything comes of it. First, there's literally no evidence of any wrongdoing. Second and more importantly, the GOP would gain no political advantage out of it.

I mean you didn't think the GOP investigated Benghazi a dozen times because they actually cared about what happened there or actually thought wrongdoing had happened there did you? Now that she's no longer a threat to them they will ignore her. If for whatever reason she becomes a threat in the future they will start investigating her again. Like I've said before there's a reason nobody attacked Bernie Sanders or dug into his past, etc. It's because he represented zero threat, not because they wouldn't do it or that he had nothing to dig into.

ACTUALLY...
President-elect Donald Trump's administration will not pursue further investigations of Hillary Clinton related to her private email server or the Clinton Foundation, Trump's former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said Tuesday, a significant break from a major campaign promise.

it seems like it would end disastrously for the Republicans to pursue a political vendetta against the candidate who won the popular vote by close to 2 million voters.

Clinton's lead over Trump is comparable to Bush in 2004 when he declared a sweeping mandate.

Exactly. The Clinton Foundation story is a non-story, and pressing this further would be a conspicuous waste of time. Moreover, it would fly in the face of what the President of the United States (a member of Chaffetz's own party) seems to want. I may be giving the Tea Party caucus too much credit, but this would seem like an exceptionally stupid thing to do, even for them.

Why is that? The President is the head of the executive branch and the only elected executive official. The only remedy the people have if the DOJ does a shitty job is to elect a different President. It is really dumb to hold the President accountable for the DOJ while arguing the DOJ should be independent.

The President should set nonpartisan, non arbitrary guidelines for the DOJ to follow and should monitor the DOJ directing them to follow those guidelines.

That said, the Clinton investigation is a matter for the Obama administration and unless new evidence is uncovered, the issue should not be revisited by the Trump administration.

Right, because they didn't beat that whole ken starr thing into the ground, wasting millions, if not billions of dollars. Let alone all the benghazi hearings, how much was wasted on that dog and pony show?

Sounds like you are willing to go to any lengths to serve as his apologist in chief. That job is already taken...
