Convince me to ebay my Wii and buy a PS3

Basically just give me reasons why I should choose to put my Wii for sale and use that money towards a PS3. I'm also looking for info on the linux project for the PS3, is that released yet? If that is out or almost out then that would be one major reason for switching.

Update: But now I have a dilemma that I can't believe I didn't think of before: My TV is junk. Its an old tuber and not a nice, new LCD HDTV. I don't have the money to buy a new TV right now so I'm pretty much stuck with this one for quite a while (maybe another year! ). With this in mind, do I stick with my old plan and go for the PS3 or should I go with a 360? Graphics were never really why I wanted the PS3 but I do know that is where it shines. So if I'm stuck playing my games in crappy resolution, should I just go for the cheaper Xbox 360? I could probably make a slight profit if I bought the $299 version. The downside is that I'm gonna be paying $60/year for Live so it will end up being a bit more in the long run.

No good franchises/games coming out.

Is it good?

Only 256 MB of RAM and no access to hardware 3D / the GPU, so it's going to be more like linux on a pocket device than a PC. I haven't had any reason to try it myself.

Do you have a PS2 slim?

What kinds of games do you care about? (PS2 games would require the 80GB Metal Gear bundle.)

If linux is your main reason, you might want an Asus eee, Acer One, MSI Wind, etc. netbook instead.

No I do not have a PS2 anymore, sold that a few years back. BC isn't a concern really...

I'm not getting it just for Linux. Not even close. But it might come in handy sometimes and it would be fun to tinker with.

What are some good upcoming games? Fallout 3 looks awesome. Killzone 2 looks awesome. Spore is coming to the PS3 right?

I love my PS3 and I'm a hardcore PC fanboi retard. That said I also want a Wii because I can download all of the old games for it.

Not sure why I posted, other than to say I'm very happy with my PS3.

Trade your PS3 for my Wii? I'll ship for free. 🙂

Well I think you guys have given me enough reason to do the switch. Now I just have to get rid of my Wii!

My Ps3 hasn't been used in around 6 months and BluRay movies are still too expensive. I say sell your Wii and pocket the money for now, then jump back in the game later. I could see trading in a Wii for an Xbox 360 considering the new price- but the Ps3 still needs another year to develop a better library of games and maybe see another price drop.

Wii, single-player, is a joke. Wii is only good for 1 thing. In-person multi-player games.

PS3 and 360 have the Wii obliterated when it comes to single-player and online play.

i use my ps3 for gaming daily.

i sold my wii a few weeks ago after it had been sitting for like 6 months doing nothing, and it was modded too.

the wii just sucks if you want to play more serious in-depth games, it's just a pile of mini-games w/the few exceptions. and good luck w/the online play on it.

oh and i have a 360 too, but my ps3 gets a lot more playing time right now and over the past few months.

I'm not keeping the Wii. I'm either going to sell it for a PS3 or maybe go back to an Xbox 360 (had one before and it RROD after 22 days so i just took it back to get my money back.)

Any time I post in a thread where a poster is asking if he should get a different game system the one thing I always post is this:

Which game system has the most games that you want to play?

Because really that's what it boils down to for the most part whichever game system you end up buying. When I made my decision between the 360, PS3 and the Wii I chose the 360 for one simple reason, it had the most games that I wanted to play. At some point in the future I may get a PS3 but right now the 360 has more than enough games that I want to play and a few exclusive titles that won't be going to the PS3 anytime soon. I am glad that FF XIII is coming out for the 360 as well, that may well have strongly tempted me to buy a PS3 sooner than expected, not anymore.

The greatest Wii game is Wii Play, but it's only really fun if you have 4 people.

The Wii is a great party console. If you aren't throwing regular Wii parties, then trade it in and get a PS3 (all of the 360 games end up on PC anyway)

Also, PS3 + Snes9x FTW (I think the 360 can do this too, but that makes both of them better than the Wii)
