Dave3k, I did pick up a 4790k at MC this weekend, just as a toy basically.

I figured I have 4 months to decide if I am sticking with it and DDR3 or jump to Skylake and DDR4.

As awesome as Skylake *sounds*, I feel it is going to carry a decent early adopter tax, even with a MC bundle deal.

So, IRL you maybe happier ditching your glitchy X79 setup and getting the proven Devils Canyon; you can always flip again in Nov - Dec when holiday sales come around.

This might be a crazy idea but I say keep what you've got now for another 3-4 months and then ditch it and get Skylake-K or you could even go x99 if your pockets are deep enough.Personally I am going to be going Skylake-K for DDR4 and the pure power of the cpu. Doesn't even matter that the 6700K Skylake is a 4c/8t cause the ipc will be much much stronger then then what a 6c/12t can offer on x79.Or if you have a backup pc sell off your current parts and start buying newer parts now such as a new graphics card or maybe a nice chunk of DDR4 16-32GB? :)

Just stick with the 4930k, at least till a good Skylake or later OC platform is out.
