At the Roxbury Correctional Institution (RCI) in Hagerstown, inmates have something many people on the outside cannot afford - satellite TV.FOX45 uncovered a request for bids which clearly states what the Department of Public Safety wants from its vendor – a TV package which includes 36 channels and Netflix."

In a statement from the Dept. of Corrections a spokesperson wrote, "Inmates being able to watch television is critical to the climate of the facility…it reduces violence. RCI has not had a total lockdown in more than a year.
Wow. Instead of doing our jobs and drive them on the chain gang we are going to do what any good babysitter does and plant their ass in front of the tv. They should let them smoke weed and have hookers too. Talk about overcrowding problems 😀

America doesn't know what it wants from its justice system: punishment, rehabilitation, or simply separation from the rest of society. Hence the confused jumble of programs that create a varying blend of all three, which serves no one.

We should let 75% of them out, and give the rest internet for entertainment so they can learn something. Our prison culture is a disgrace. It's designed to drive money from the many to the few. Retards spew nonsense about "justice" and "rehabilitation", but are too stupid to know they're being had, and having the money taken from their pockets to abuse their neighbors.

Thanks, silly liberlulz. Thanks for gradually destroying 'Muricah. What with your Unions, your welfare policies, your leniency towards criminal (because we all know how they need to be coddled and protected), you bullshits in general, etc... have turned this country into. Take a look around, open your eyes.

And people wonder why it drives people batshit crazy when the say they need to raise taxes on the "rich".

Does it cost the taxpayer less money to have tv sets around playing Dallas/GOT/boxing instead of having to employ more guards to deal with the violence?

Screw that man. They're in prison, they should like totally get nothing and have the shittiest time of their lives in there. No TV, no beer make them good people and model prisoners on the path to rehabilitation.

What is this perceptive opinion doing in ATOT? This is the home of hooker jokes and painful puns, good sir. Now either give us a poorly worded political outburst or else I will have to ask you to leave now. :colbert:

The real problem here is not that Prisoners have access to 35 Channels and Netflix. It's that many not in Prison can't afford that. It's just not that expensive to have that in the first place.

Can we please just take the more hardened criminals + rapists, and put them in a Gladiator ring in a fight to the death. They become entertainment for the masses, and those masses, in turn, pay to watch the event. So in all, we drop our prison population, raise revenue, and gain new-found love for violent sports.

Sorry, sorry, I just get so MAD that all those welfare-leaching gun-stroking politi-KOOK commie-nazi-liburul-republithugs are destroying AMURRICA with their lies and deceit!! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!😡

i really don't have a problem with this. they are in there to not be able to do crimes and to rehabilitate.

not being able to go outside and do what they want and have freedom is the punishment. if it keeps it cheaper to run the prisons well that works for me.

In the actual story the prisoners have to supply their own TVs (I imagine they would also have to pay for Netflix).

While this Made For ATOT adaptation is based upon a true story, the producers felt certain facts would take away from the overall theme of the narrative.

When they stop locking up pot smokers, I'll start caring that prison is "too soft." Locking up drug offenders is a waste of time and money. Until we figure that out, the cost of prison TV isn't even a drop in the bucket.

If you can survive all the mind games, prison politics, racial tension and the lying psychopathic nut jobs, you deserve a little cable!

Half the men in there are trying to rape you, the other half are tying to beat the f out you or kill you to move up the prison gang hierarchy.

I don't see a problem with this. Maybe by providing this then it would lessen the burden on the Guard, which in turn be cheaper overall for the prison because they don't have to employ as many guards.

What really seems to be the problem?
