Converting videos

thanks in advance...

I have a HAUPPAUGE WINTV401 as well as a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card on my PC. I am trying to convert all VHS-C tapes off of my Panasonic PV-IQ205 and the only cable it comes with is one that plugs into its A/V Out port and then breaks into two cords (yellow=video + white=audio). by using the converter which came with the Hauppauge, i can plug the video cable into the S-Video port on the Hauppauge and i get the video feed, but i am not quite certain how to get audio into the Windows Capture software. I thought i should put the Audio cable into the Line In on the Santa Cruz, but it doesn't fit snugly at all, and i am kind of perplexed. I know all is okay on the camcorder because i can plug it into my tv and i get both sound and video; i just can't seem to figure out if i need different cables or adapters or what. Any constructive help would be deeply appreciated. thank you

My guess would be that the cable coming from your camera terminates in two RCA plugs(the video and audio). Your soundcard almost certainly has a stereo mini-jack for line in. You'll need an adapter (probably female RCA to male 1/8th inch mini-jack). Give http://www.cablestogo.com/prod...5Fid=102&sku=03195 that little toy a look. My guess is that it will almost certainly solve your problem.

ineed it was; converting right now...

now if someone could tell me why the same video on my tv is color and on the capture card is B&W i'd be happier yet...
