So my friend wants to convert his MPEG files to MPEG2 so he can burn them onto DVD.

Apparently the program he's using wont let MPEG files burn on DVD, I'm not even sure if thats normal or not, in fact I know nothing about this.

He's trying to get the files on his TIVO to DVD.

If anyone can explain this process to me it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

You might try Advanced Search "tivo DVD" for older threads on this, and/or use those for a Google search.

I've used google but I honestly have no idea what to look for. Its basically been 30 min of me running around in circles. Most of the stuff I turn up is either Mpeg4 to DVD or Mpeg2 to Mpeg4 info.

The best news: no conversion needed, you still get to have over 7 hours of video on a single DVD:

Yeah that works for me. I got 9 40-60 min episodes of mpeg1 videos into a single DVD. I did have to do a PAL to NTSC conversion using TMPGenc though coz the orignal video was in PAL format. There's a 30 day trial period for the software. Too bad it's not free.

As long as your DVD player will play the discs, the site even mentions that discs created are non-standard.

plays perfectly on my dvd players. I think any dvd players that support dvdr disc and vcd should be able to play it.

I have three DVD players, they all play these discs.

The ONLY players who *MIGHT* choke on these are those from the very first generations, who were not VCD compatible.
