Converting Internal HD to External

So... I've always read the OT and Hot Deals forums, but today I need some help.

I bought the HD that everyone was raving about on Hot Deals a few weeks ago, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148140
and figured I could turn it into an external HD by buying an enclosure. Well... the enclosure I bought was this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160000868997

And now I can for the life of me, figure out how to get this thing working. Is there something else I need to buy before I can get the HD to hook up to the enclosure? Cuz right now I don't think it attaches.

Anyways, if there's anyplace that could help me out, it's Anandtech. =D I would reeally appreciate any tips. 😀

You bought an incompatible enclosure. The HD you bought has a SATA interface. The enclsure you bought has an IDE interface. You need to buy a SATA compatible hard drive enclosure.

I am not sure if the adapters are compatible with the hard drive encosures. But, even if an adapter does work the external case would not fit anymore, and you would be carrying a bare drive.

One more question... If the enclosure says it is SATA compatible, does that include SATA2? Or do I have to find a special SATA2 enclosure?
