I heard they were charged because a Taliban sentry observed Dayna handing a crucifix over to an Afghan peasant. The sentry couldn't even HEAR what was going on, he just saw her hand over the crucifix and blew the whistle. Ms. Curry insists that the Afghan had just noticed it in her bag among her own personal effects and wanted to see it because she thought it was 'pretty' (it was furnished with gold and silver trim or something like that.)

Trust me, these aid workers knew what they were doing. They wore the black shawls to cover their face and hair just so they wouldn't be shot, so I'm DAMNED SURE they wouldn't even THINK of proselytizing(sp).

Well, I know I respect them for so firmly sticking with what they believe in and wanting to share it with others.

I don't know if I'd be able to do it.

Let's see... a group of Christians aid workers in Afghanistan. They are carrying Christian literature (for their own use or for converting muslims.. who knows). Could it be that the Tali-bastards didn't like the proposition of Christians helping their people, regardless of whether they were preaching Christianity or not? COuld it be that this a terrorist government that decided they jsut anted to screw with some Americans? Could it be they KNEW something would happen soon and wanted some hostages as bargaining chips?

/sarcasm Naw couldn't be that.

Being sought out and killed for one's beliefs is one thing...

...To seek out those that will kill you for your beliefs and going to them on purpose is just plain suicidal.

I'm sorry, but you just can't put these people in the same category as Jesus Christ or Martin Luther King or Jews persecuted during WWII.
