I have some FLAC audio files that I want to change over to MP3 or AAC or something. Anyone know of a program that will do so without destroying the sound quality? I realize that going from FLAC to a lossy format loses quality, but i don't want it to sound too bad.

I believe the new version of CDex can do this, it has a batch conversion feature as well. Be sure to use LAME.

dbpoweramp will also do it. you're quality is going to on which mp3 encoder you use, then even more so on the switches. As suggested, the best mp3 encoder is LAME (LAME AINT AN MP3 ENCODER ... that's what LAME stands for .. irony huh? funny.)

Here's a site if you're worried about switches. http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=28124

though, most people can't tell the difference between a 160 kbps mp3 and a 320. Use what you want.

Thanks for that. It worked just the way I wanted it to. Got it all in 192 bit rate now. :D
