EDIT: does the pm 5.01 conversion convert the fat32 partitions to ntfs5? I couldn't find any documentation on the powerquest website about this..

Thanks,

BB

Howdy,

Is there a way I can convert my fat32 partitions to ntfs5 under win2k? does partition magig 5.01 do this?

Thanks,

BB

Win2k can convert fat32 to NTFS natively, but it cannot go back. You wont need Pqmagic unless u want to convert ntfs to fat32. check the help file in win2k for more info...it's a command line command, not windows based.

If you convert a FAT32 drive to NTFS format by M$ win2k convert command, it will use a whopping 512 byte per cluster, which can be painfully slow in HD performance.

It's better to do a format in case possible.

5.01 supports win2k. 5.0 will crud out. You should be able to find only 5.01 in stores by now. If you do purchase a 5.0, there is a ~30 MB update to make it compatible with win2k.
