converting fat32 to NTFS

I'm running XP - Fat32 right now and I'd like to convert it to NTFS. I know it's idealistic to format my entire pc and start from scratch, but i'm curiuos if that's necessary. I found a tip at TweakXP that I can convert to NTFS using the following command in my dos prompt... Convert C: /FS:NTFS. Sounds simple, but the one thing I'm concerned is that I currently have 2 HDs. One of my HD is partitioned to two (C & D), and my third drive is its own (E). If i use this conversion method to my C Drive, am I to do it to the rest of my drives? Will my D Drive be effected somehow once my C drive has been converted?

You have to do it for each individual partition. Windows treats each partition as a separate drive (as do most OSes).

that is the correct command (you will find it in XP help), it will only convert the partition you specify, leaving other partitions unaffected.

I believe if you convert from FAT32 you can only convert to 512b clusters where you can format to the XP default of 4kb clusters when you do a fresh format from the installation. The NTFS system seems to have its best overall performance ak the 4kb cluster size.
