Converting AVI video (from a DV camcorder) to DiVX?

I tried downloading a few tools, but none of them will open DV encoded video. Can anyone recommend a utility that can do this?

Thanks!

I have tons of codecs installed - but I think what I am missing is a utility that is capable of converting AVI (DV) to DIVX.

Has anyone done this before?

No codecs do any conversion, the application uses one codec to import the data and the other to export the data, as long as you have both codecs installed.

Do you have a codec that can read your DV files? If so, there are many programs (like VirtualDub) that can use that codec to decode the DV video, and then reencode it in DivX. You need the initial codec first though.

Thanks for the help guys - I didn't realize that the required codec wasn't bundled with the software.

At this point i'm not sure if I have the correct codecs installed to read the video file saved from my camcorder.

Can someone point me in the right direction for a codec that will read files from a Sony DCR-TRV103 camcorder?

Thanks again!
