converting a static html site into a masterpage in asp.net

I'm trying to take the original clients webpage and turning it into a masterpage. I can complete that, add the content piece so I can create a consistent site, but when I start adding text boxes into the content box, preview it, it's all jumbled up.

I guess I don't really understand css in asp.net. I figured this would be easier.

Any ideas? Everything is aligned when building it, but when I run it in IE/Firefox/Safari it's messed up.

I figured it, had to use absolute as default so it didn't mess everything up.
