*Trying it again...*

Hey all,

I've isolated the problem on my computer down to my Maxtor ATA/133 controller card. I have the Maxtor 80 GB (7200 RPM, ATA/133) drive and a Western Digital 60 GB (5400 RPM, ATA/100) running off the card. Both are on separate IDE channels (one is on primary, one on secondary) and I have a TDK VeloCD 24x burner running on my motherboard's (ASUS A7V266) primary IDE channel and a Creative Ovation 16x DVD-ROM drive running off it's secondary IDE channel.

Anyway, I know the problem is the Maxtor ATA/133 controller card because, simply put, when the card's not in the system, it takes like 15 seconds to boot up. By 'boot up' time, I'm referring to the time the WinXP Pro loading screen is displayed. Even if there are no drives connected to the card, it still takes 2+ minutes.

I've installed the controller card drivers from Maxtor's website, but nothing changed. What gives?

My computer's specs (important stuff):
- ASUS A7V266A motherboard
- AMD Athlon XP 1700+
- 512MB DDR RAM
- Maxtor 80 GB 7200 RPM ATA/133 hard drive
- Western Digital 60 GB 5400 RPM ATA/100 hard drive
- ATI Radeon 8500DV All-In-Wonder graphics card
- Creative Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+ sound card
- TDK VeloCD 24x10x40 (revision B) CD-RW drive
- Creative Ovation 16x DVD-ROM drive
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional

P.S. I just ran MadOnion.com's PCMark2002 test and came up with a sub-500 HDD performance score. For a computer with my specs (see above), that's horrible!
