Becuase of the news of Roelof's passing, I would like to kick in the idea of doing a special project in rememberance of him.

What do you say?? You with me?

Let's think of some ideas on how we can dedicate as much CPU power can to a DC project.

Those that come to mind would be his SETI email address or UD.

Let me know..

I really don't have much of a preference, but since I've never done UD before and it sounds cool, I'd probably put in 5 votes for UD and 4 votes for SETI. 😉
 
We can create a tribute account on the TeAm for any project that we agree upon. I would be glad to crunch in honor of Roelof.

When it's done, I'll PM the account information to all those who want it.

If it doesn't bother anyone else, I want to officially kick off this event on December 1, 2004. (Myself, I'll be crunching as soon as the account is ready)

Just incase your wondering why I picked UD - To do research for Cancer in hopes of not loosing any more "Roelof's" out there.

1st of December is fine I think. Do we have any number that was special to Roleof? Like I don't know, SetiSpy had 5000 lines of code and so we crunch till he has 5000 points in UD (just an example, I don't now how long points take in UD, never did it before), or he got so many years old and thus we crunch so many days for him.

Any ideas? Or shall people just crunch for it as long as they want to?
 
I crunch around 3000 points a day by myself. 5000 WU would be more substantial. A fast machine is capable of 1000 points a day.
 
If you're intersted in Cancer studies, Find-a-Drug always has a cancer query going, so we could contribute there as well.

I think LANMAN was considering SETI or UD because those were the two projects that Roelof was involved in. Anyway, mark me down on the list of people to send PMs to once this account for the TeAm to contribute to is set up. 🙂

Whatever the case, I'll either crunch for a non-team-associated tribute account, or one in our own team. For the BBR account, Thanks, but no thanks. And thanks, LANMAN, for the info. Tomorrow is a very full day for me, but I'll try to work on getting the UD client up and running after that. 🙂
 
It's installed, but it's doing this "Human proteome folding project" thing... Is there a way to get it to work on the cancer project only, or is it ok to let it work on either?

If you want it to just work on the cancer project login to the UD website and into your stats page. Goto my device manager, then at the top click profiles then select the profile name that you have your client(s) working under then at the bottom you can select which projects you want to run.
