Contractors who make EVERYTHING billable time = nazis

as kranky said because they got burned before by a company that would ask little questions all the time. most people don't care about 1 question. but when that 1 question takes 10 minutes and they as a dozen a week or so it adds up.

odds are the contractor ran into someone like that and figured it out. so now they bill on everything.
 
I work with a contractor who bills us for him fixing the mistakes he makes. Basically, we pay him to do something for an hour, find out he did a terrible job, tell him to fix it, and he bills us for the hour and a half it took to fix it.

I can't wait to kick his ass out the door, if only he weren't the VP's good friend (only reason this no talent hack has a job).

Also, if you work for a consulting firm, now you have utilization targets. Since the economy blows now and all the jobs are low bid, they are making up for it by having employees hit 90% utilization (vacation time counts towards utilization too). Once you do your time sheet, you are scrambling to meet you target, so that 15 minutes add up.
